Trousseau

A trousseau is something that has largely gone by the wayside in our culture. Giving a bride the linens and clothing that she will need in new life as a wife was widely practiced across cultures. My own mother had been given special night clothes as well as some fine linens to begin her married life. 

Reflecting back on 30 plus years of marriage, I made this piece, realizing that what I was given was the ability and drive to do the hard yet delicate work of creating a sacred space of Home.

Making the pillow velvet references an engagement ring and also a resting place for an icon.
