This work is from the ‘Rabbit Years’. The very last rabbit that we kept at our house was named “Only”. He survived the ‘Incident’ that took his six siblings…thusly his name.

We really cherished and doted on Only. We made him special entrances to his hutch in the garage through a window and he had a ramp to get to the back yard to forage and lounge in the sun.

It was the end of an era for our older son being at home… the end of a great deal of fertile hospitality. So many kids at our house all of the time, eating, sleeping, having fun, causing trouble… I loved being that accomodating and hospitable… so much Joy!

In a way Only was an avatar for the Great Mother, the fertility Goddess.

This piece is a monument to that time period. A frozen moment in time.
