Slow Going

I have used boats in my work for many years. They have been symbols of journey and how I find myself moving through the world.

This piece came from a sudden and devastating loss. I couldn’t seem to make sense of the world without this person in my life… My grief was like this work in my mind…I knew there was no getting over the loss, only going through the time and space slowly and carefully…being kind to myself and saving space for the absence of this being. There is a reverence for stillness and solitude here but also a quiet longing for things to move forward…
