Red Riding Hood

Red riding hood is a fairy tale with many layers. This piece was built in a series of women’s clothing items that represented iconic roles…dresses and aprons can be loaded with powerful messages in society. I was working with the presence of “Absence” in all of the works in this series. The clothing looks as if it is inhabited in that it stands on it’s own and is life sized. There is a haunting lack of a body in each of these pieces.
The drawing inside of the cape here shows a business man of sorts with a dog beside him. The morals and messages in fairy tales can stay with us for a long time…I have flipped the “villan” so to speak, to express who is really the one to be wary of.
