Parenting Trophy; Crying Time

I made myself a set of parenting trophies. Never had I received an award for performing the myriad different tasks and duties of a parent.
This one was wrapped around sending our daughter off to a “gifted” camp at Bryn Mawr for academic enrichment one summer. She received a full scholarship from her school. It was a wildly expensive and fabulous opportunity and we were promised that she would have a roommate in here dorm room…she was 8.
The experience was wonderful except for at night time. The kids were not allowed to have phones and were compelled to do ‘brain teasers’ before bedtime to combat homesickness.
Our daughter had a single room, was terrible homesick and called us every evening at about 9:30 for what was known as “Crying Time”…
We survived the ordeal, opportunity, with an almost shining finish. Nell was picked up two days early making it 12 nights at the sleep away “adventure”.
