Low Freeboard

Rabbits have been a part of my life since I can remember. I’m fascinated by their fertility, beauty and quiet intellegence. The vulnerability and quiet power they posses are strengths that are also part of  being a mother.

This piece is an investigation into a  time when my boat seemed chocked full of people that I loved dearly. It was a time when I also felt no control or agency to guide the direction of any of the lives surrounding me. Languishing in the face of uncertainty, like I was treading water…trying to stay safe until a clear direction was determined.

Low Freeboard can be a precarious position to be in as a Captain. In some ways I felt like I was outside of the boat, observing my life from above…
