In 2009 I was hit by a truck while I was walking. It was painful. It was hard.
I spent a lot of months recovering and this was the first piece that I made after my physical recovery.
The layers of redundant security in this piece relate to my title as “The Careful Queen”, in my family…that’s pre-accident…
I loved slumping the glass for the umbrella, carving the umbrella handle and fence posts from wood.
Fittingly, this is owned by Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, OH.
