A crown seems to be a wonderful metiaphor for riteous accomplishment. I have had some fleeting moments of hubris in my “career” as a mother. At one such moment, I made myself a Crown! The Crown Jewels are the treasures that I feel I have bestowed upon my people…
I took a sewing class several times in order to create the pillow in lush purple velvet. The scale of this piece is intentionally bloated, the idea that a royal headdress would actually acknowledge the feats of living and loving the people around me being quite absurd.
