Casting a Long Shadow

After both of our children were in college, we decided to move into a smaller house…downsizing. This was on our minds a lot for a few years and when we finally did sell our home of 20 years, our kids had a difficult time with the decision.

There was a lot of ambivilence and sadness with the transition. Looking back at the sweet and humble home we had created as a family was bittersweet. The house was special but not grand… this work is about how something very humble can still loom large in memory and cast a very long shadow.
